Vegetarian Choices

Duke supports you in your choice of a vegetarian diet. Maintaining a vegetarian or vegan diet can be part of a healthy lifestyle, although as with any diet, it requires smart food choices. We encourage Duke community members to make informed nutritional decisions, and we’re here to help. Anyone with questions about eating vegetarian may contact Duke’s own dietician, Franca Alphin, at (919) 613-7486 or send her an e-mail Franca.Alphin@duke.edu.

Here are some resources for making healthy vegetarian choices:

  • Available at The Freeman Center, healthy and well-balanced meals to complement the vegetarian lifestyle.
  • Visit the Vegetarian Resource Group, by far one of the best vegetarian sites online!
  • Curious about that stuff called soy? Try Let's Talk Soy, an all-about-soy site.
  • Or explore Veggies Unite! It’s a comprehensive online resource for vegetarians.
