Paying for food on campus is easy with a Flexible Spending Account, which is accessed with your DukeCard. Deposit money into your FLEX account and with a swipe of your DukeCard, you can buy meals and snacks at any campus eatery, Merchant on Points vendor, campus convenience store or vending machine.

Using FLEX virtually eliminates the need to carry cash on campus. Plus, faculty and staff who use FLEX receive a 10 percent discount at most campus dining locations.

How to Use a FLEX Account

  • Open a FLEX account by visiting DukeCard Offices at 100 West Union Building on West Campus or 0100 Facilities Center on Coal Pile Drive (next to the medical center book store).
  • Your DukeCard offers access to your FLEX account, much like a debit card.
  • Funds may be added in person with cash, check or debit card at a DukeCard office or by mail with a check. Credit cards cannot be used to add funds.
  • Funds can also be added using debit cards at DukeCard Express Stations in DukeCard Offices, the Fuqua School of Business and the Student Service Center.
  • Eligible employees can even have funds added monthly through payroll deduction by completing a FLEX payroll deduction request form online or visiting a DukeCard office.
