Points & Plans
At Duke, dining is more than a meal, and we offer several convenient ways to pay for food.
In addition to the traditional dining plans, students can buy food points and deposit money in their Flexible Spending Account (FLEX), which virtually eliminates the need to carry cash and is also available to faculty and staff.
To help you understand the different options at Duke, please consider several basic starting points and then select from the left menu for more information that applies to you.
- If you’re a student and reside on campus, you must enroll in a dining plan, which includes food points. You can also use the FLEX account, which is accessed through your DukeCard, to buy food.
- If you’re a student who lives off campus, a dining plan is not required. You may purchase food points and use a FLEX account to buy food.
- If you’re faculty or staff, consider opening a FLEX account. You can receive a 10 percent discount on food purchases at most dining locations.
